Alaskan Coastal Brown bear (Ursus arctos ) waving a friendly “Hi” whilst relaxing on the beach on the Katmai peninsula. This sub adult had just finished chasing fish in the creek inlet, and he lay down for a rest. Most of the time he laid on his belly, but for a short time he laid on his back and put on this show. I was on the beach with about 6 other people standing about 100 yards (metres) away. It was a precious moment.
